The Cottage - Home of the NSW Central Coast Handweavers, Spinners & Textile Arts Guild
Central Coast Handweavers, Spinners & Textile Arts Guild Inc. was established in 1972 at Gosford on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
The aim of the Guild is to bring together and encourage all who wish to work with natural fibres through arts such as spinning, weaving, dyeing, felting and quiltmaking.
Meetings are currently held at the Cottage at the following times
- Mondays 7.00pm - Felting
- Tuesdays 9.30am - "Spinning, Knitting, Felting and Other Fibre Crafts"
- Wednesdays 9.30am - Patchwork & Quilting
- Wednesdays 7.00pm - All Fibre Craft
- Fridays 9.30am - Knitters Guild 4th Friday of the Month
- Saturdays 10.00am - General Meeting - mini workshop 2nd Saturday of the Month
- Saturdays 9.30am - Community Quilting Bees 4th Saturday of the Month
The Guild produces and distributes a monthly newsletter to members.
Membership is currently available and members can access The Cottage at any time and have full use of its extensive library and equipment. Additional fibre crafts can be included at the members request.
Workshop - Beginner Spinner15th August 2010 - Beginner Spinning A one day workshop aimed at beginner and new spinners. The Presenter be will be Linda Coffill from Petlins, Sydney. Linda is a master spinner who also teaches at the NSW Guild. The workshop is a fun day that will cover care and maintenance of the spinning wheel; simple wool preparation (flicking and carding) and actually spinning yarn. By the end of the day you should be on your way to your first hand spun jumper!!!! Details: Sunday 15th August 2010. Held at the Guild Cottage from 9.00 am. if you have a spinning wheel bring it along with any other bits and pieces. The Guild can provide a wheel if required. Cost is $40.00 for members, $45.00 non - members. |
Workshop - Fibre Blends16th August 2010 Spinning: Following on from the Beginner Spinner Workshop is one day of fibre blending and novelty yarns. Learn to bring together wool, alpaca and silk, to combine colours and to spin them into beautiful novelty yarns. Linda from Petlins will show how to work with fibres beyond wool. Details: A one day workshop held at the Cottage on the 16th August 2010. Starting at 9.00 am , cost for members $40.00 non-members $45.00. |
